Beautiful, Comfortable and Convenient Leaping Lions from San Francisco
I loved this hotel ! The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and there was 24 hour room service. I booked a room at Xinhai Jinjiang right in the airport at a customer service counter. They helped me get a taxi to the hotel. Very important to let the customer service people at the airport get you the cab so you don't get over charged. The Hotel prices were reasonable and, after I was there for a week, the manager actually lowered the room rate when I asked to extend my stay a second week ! The menu, available 24 hours a day, had lots of choices that suit Western taste, as well as, a second restaurant with a traditional Chinese cuisine. They have a small fitness room and a huge pool with steamy jets of water. They are a 10 minute walk to Tianammen Square. You just ask the Hotel manager for walking directions. They are a 5 minute walk to Wanfujing st. which is a major street full of shopping and interesting attractions. Watch out for the young Chinese people who follow tourists and the Teahouse scams ! I met two Chinese women who spoke English well and invited me to a Teahouse. They showed me a traditional Chinese tea ceremony, but when the bill came it was over $500 American dollars ! They would not let me leave without signing my credit card bill. Anyway, I told the Hotel Xinhai manager what happened to me and she helped me out by calling the police who walked me thru the streets to find the Teahouse. When we got there they threatened the Teahouse owner who refunded $300 of my money out of his pocket. Ok, I was still out $200 just because I had tea. But I am still grateful to my hotel manager for doing what she could. I faced many challenges in Beijing but Hotel Xinjai was like a home where the staff were always looking after me. If I go to Beijing again I will definitely chose this hotel.
